Hi

I switched to Step-ins in 1996 or 1997 and have been riding step-ins ever since. However a few collegue instructors are now switching back to straps, particularly those focussing on Park and Pipe. I'm really tempted for next year as while I love the precision offered by step-ins, I dislike the rigidity.

Any of you switched back to straps?

I still see that the majority of people pulling big tricks and big air are riding straps

I have both. However my strap system is more rigid then my strapin system so I use them for different things really. Besides, since I have two boards it's much easier to have a board with strapin bindings if someone want to borrow it. Performancewise the difference is mainly in the boots. I really like being able to ride away from the lift with the stepins, in particular when it's cold and windy at the top of the lift.

No wonder. They hike all the time. They sit and wait for each other. They have plenty time to strap in. I also do think snowboarders are somewhat oldfashioned and stick to what they know works...
