I was wondering if a burton board is better or just got cool designs, if i buy a board i dont want to pay 200 more dollars for a name. Unless its the best quality, then id spend a lot for it. So, is it beter quality or just a name?

Many boarders have different opinions about that. Personally I think they got quality boards, but they're not the only ones...

Hmmm... austrian snowboards that must be good (being that snow is a permanent feature in the austrian -higher- mountains)
HERE (please click) are some FAQ's.
Personally I have no experience with them, so can't recommend them either

Burton boards are pretty good, but Lib Tech boards are AMAZING with the technology in them, Rome has some of the most comfortable boards out there, and Ride comes correct too....Forum never was very good, Dinosaurs will die is basic with tons of hype, K2 is a good company with little street cred, Capita is up there too, Gnu is the same as lib tech basically (all by Mervin)

I had a pair of Yugoslavian Elan recreational skis that were supposed to be very similar to their GS competition model around the mid 80's. I didn't ski much more than 50 times in less than 10 years.
I skied them on a Camel PRO speed skiing course at Kirkwood at speeding ticket speed (literally) on any road in America. I didn't notice any instability.

All snowboard companies are going to have a different flew pattern and a varying feel depending on how the company shaped the cores and arranged the fiberglass laminates. With the number of possibilities there are and a little bit of luck you might find the one that is perfect for you. however until then try them all. you wont know if you like a board or the company that makes it until you have ridden their board. Second burton does put a lot of hardwork in to their top end boards made in vermont. the rest of the boards are out sourced to number of various countries in Europe and Asia. Find out where your board was made chose accordingly. That is not to say Burton does not make quality boards they do produce some of the nicer boards in the industry but only if you like them.

Its not where you ride, its how you ride.

Fritz try some of the demo days at your local resorts i generally have fairly decent luck finding boards at these types of events.

I used to be an auto salesperson at one time. We had about 100 used vehicles at moments on the lot next to the new ones. I used consumer reports to evaluate many vehicles (this was actually reinforced by personal observations).
Looked like there were 4 companies that had A's, one or 2 with B's, a few more with C's, and one huge one that was supposed to be rated as D's. The prior analysis of dependability using a school grading format.
Snowboards are probably the same. function, and quality control. The lucky ones know the quality control issue, then go to what functions they need/ want.

I bought a 2008 Rome Flag this year. Very impressed and does everything they say it will. I would say its as good as a custom x wide at a cheaper price.
I have friends with Burton boards and they love them. Also have friends with GNU and Ride boards and haven't heard a bad thing about any of them.
