Can someone suggest a great family-friendly ski area in Colorado? We`re looking for places with good ski school programs, great instructors, lots of green trails so we can all ski together, and kid-friendly activities and restaurants.
We live in the East and haven`t skied Colorado since our son was born 6 years ago. He`s really taken to skiing this year and so we`re planning some bigger trips. Both Vail and Steamboat -- where we skied years ago -- get rated highly by the ski press for catering to families; but, a look at Steamboat`s ski trail map indicates they don`t seem to have a lot of green beginner trails from high up on the mountain. And, although I love Vail, I`ve always thought of it as being a bit too ritzy for a family prone to reheating pizza for the kids` dinner before heading to the pool in the evening. A-Basin is probably out (too difficult), and I`ve spent some time around Winter Park/Mary Jane (doing nordic skiing at Devil`s Thumb and Snow Mountain Ranch) and never thought of Winter Park as having a lot of activities for children.
I`d appreciate any advice offered on good Colorado destinations for families.
