I don`t know, what kind of boots to buy: I am going to buy a splitboard, that one can use for walking up-hill as well.
Hard boots that are made for ski touring only have flex in one direction, but offer good walking on rock, snow and skis and also crampon support.
Snowboard boots offer the best boarding, inferior walking (especially on rock) and only k2 offers crampons (clicker system).
Does anyone have experience in this regard? Anyone used the k2 crampons? What shoes are good for walkign and boarding? Where to buy cheaply? (germany)
Thanks for any hints, Rudolfo

split board... If you look for high mountain hard boot that can handle crampons as well as beeing efficient on the snowboard, the raichle SB121 is made for you... A bit heavier than regular high mountain shells thu.. But are designed for snowboarding..
I`m using SB121 for everything from extremecarving to pow pow on my swallows

Rudolpho- Buy the most comfortable- stiffer boot. You`ll be walking in them and they`ll break in sooner this way than just from riding, if you go too soft you`ll lose all the support in them. The crampons arn`t really going to do much for you unless your` really going mountainering, then you should go hard boots, this is when the split board becomes to wide for hard pack traversing, difficult to get edge hold. I have been splitt-boarding for about 4 years and the best over all set-up has been, soft boots(stiffer) with Flow bindings, and now I use the split kit modified- 1. mounted on a solid board i put the binding anchors with bindings attached to plates 2. on a pair of wide ski`s(old K2 Big Kahunas) cut down to about 100cm with the skins perm-glued on I have atached the hinge pieces and the heel lift pints.
I carry these skis in my pack when snowboarding and the reverse when skinning, works excelent and have had no travers issues. The Board is sometime too wide and in hard pack crust and spring goop the board just won`t get edge hold, also even with wide skins the base isn`t always covered and thus slippage..... enough said- Zins out
