I've been looking for a good stiff freeriding boot. The Salomon's (Malamute, Synapse, F-series) don't fit very well. All the Van's I've tried on also don't fit me. There is the Driver-X, but I have read some reviews saying they have durability issues (not really bad, but just not what you would expect for $300).

So I was looking into some footwear specific companies and came across Deeluxe. I was really interested in the tech they were using. I was looking at the "Vicious", "Empire", or the "ID SCL TF". They've got triple zone lacing, a nice power strap at the top that seems useful, TPS shield, and Backtrack technology. The TPS shield and Backtrack technology seem to increase the boots stiffness/response rating. The Empire's have a base stiffness of 6 out of 10 but add 2 for TPS and 2 for Backtrack for a total of 10 out of 10. This seems like an awesome deal because I could have a freeride boot for most of the time, but could adjust them to be more flexible if I wanted to learn how to ride park (read: get hurt really fast).

Does anyone have experiance with Deeluxe boots, especially the TPS shield and Backtrack technology?

Looks like you are on the right track going for tunable boots for different types of performance at different times.
