what does it mean if someone says they have been riding blacks, or greens? are they levels of difficulty? - could you help me out here?

Every resort I have been to in the U.S.A. uses a system to rate the level of ability needed to navigate a particular section. Green circle=easiest/beginner, blue square=more difficult than a green circle/intermediate, black diamond is more advanced than a blue square/expert, and Heavenly resort at minimum has double black diamonds= tougher than most black diamonds.
