I'm buying my first board and I'm currently considering ordering a Donek Wide 161. It seems like a great deal. Can someone give me testimonials, recommendations, warnings, etc. on Donek? The board comes with Duratech Strap-in bindings - are these okay?

Thanks for the help, John

I just received my Donek Wide 161 last week and was able to take it up for a day trip at SugarBowl near the Lake Tahoe area. It seems a little longer than 161 but let me tell you, the board rides real nice and can handle any conditions from the groomed stuff to powder. I actually had my board customized by having it built with a stiffer flex and my own fabric for the top sheet design.

BTW, you'll be amazed and surprised with the build quality you will get once you receive the board. It's just as good, if not better, than the big name board makers like Burton, K2, Salomon, etc. If you'd like a picture of my board, let me know... I'll send it to via email...

I'm not sure if you have contacted Donek, but Sean, the owner, is very helpful and will assist you with anything you need...GO FOR IT! You won't regret getting the board... Good Luck!

Thanks for the feedback. Does anyone else have a Donek who tell me how they like it?

I also purchased a wide 165 from Donek. I have been very happy with the board and its performance in a variety of conditions. I agree that the service I received from Sean was terrific. I do use the Duratech bindings and find them comfortable, easy to use, and again they perform well. Contact Sean and he will answer any questions you might have. My Burton Floater will now be delegated to the garage and my Drake F60 bindings has been put on my sons board. Good luck and enjoy the board if you buy through Donek.

yes i would like to hear about them too... specifically how light you find them and if they have a nice 'pop' to them (like the timeless)

Hey, I have been condidering ordering one of their twin-tips, but I was dissapointed when I learned that they didn't over any directional twins. Which brings me to my question for you: How much did he charge for the customization you asked for? I would like a stiffer tail flex mainly, but I could probaly think of a few other modifications. Thanks and please lmk,
