Hello boarding friends.
I am new to snowboarding this year. I have been skiing on and off since I was 18. I moved to WI about 10 years ago and the skiing is just not that challenging out here so I kind of retired my skis for a while. My son started boarding a few seasons ago so I got the skis out again. I was not going to be able to stand another season on them out here so I took up snowboarding.
So far I am having a blast. I am just starting to do the boxes and rails. There is even a real cool spine transfer on the hill that I manage.
I think all the skate boarding that i have been doing these past two years has helped. (another hobby I picked up not long ago. I am 48

I was wondering if anyone can tell me if there was a place online that gives you all the names of boarding techniques and how they are done.? I want to start entering some of the beginners comps next year with my son. (he is 10) I am sure it will be lonely in my age group doing so...but what the heck i love the kids.

Hi boardorfly, welcome to the forum I hope you will like it here.

You sound very enthusiastic and I'm sure your son is also very happy his dad is 'into it'

I am not sure about a site existing online that mentions all the snowboarding techniques but the members here on this forum sure seem to know a lot about them. I hope they will read this and respond

Thanks.
I want to learn all the basic grabs etc.. I don't know what 3's and 5's are that I have been reading about.
The season is going to be over here in about another month...or less if it starts to rain in march and I want learn to learn just some of the basic maneuvers before the end of the season so when the turkey event starts next winter I will be ready for the beginner comp
.
When the season is done anybody can check my profile and visit my web site . If you are in the/passing through the midwest you can join us here for something else fun to do.

cheers

I wish you loads of fun until the rains arrive in march, Boarderfly I probably won't be passing through the midwest, but who knows, one day, one time
