Do you really need a special waxing iron to wax your snowboard? Could I just cover my normal clothing iron with aluminum foil or something and use that?

And I was also wondering about that rub on wax, is that stuff any good? I saw some burton rub on wax at the shop today and they told me that you can just rub it on and ride but it's better if you iron it in. How does this stuff compared to normal melt on wax?

yes yo ucan use a regular iron...though board irons are only like $30 at my local boardshop. It works fine really, just a tad messier but once you're done and have scraped the excess off it's the same.

rub on wax works alright in a pinch I guess....but if you just rub it on, it'll basically just rub off soon anyway, best to melt.

Take a look at Zardoz notwax. Some people don't like dupont products. If this doesn't bother you I highly recomend it.

They will let you know how to use it also, as it is pure teflon and not wax as the name implies.

stick with the hotwaxes bro they will treat you better and make your board last longer. only route in my mind unless you melt the rub on which actaully gets kinda interesting.

Supposedly Dupont is a right wing organization. I was raised in one of the few leftist areas in the U.S.A. and have been termed a middle of the roader. I live in what is considered a right leaning county, but a leftist area of that county. I have to mail order dupont products for my van.
To bad all this politics makes snowboarding more difficult than it is.

I don't do the park and all that jibbing stuff on my own time. I feel that is the only advantage wax gives you. No iron, scrapping, buffing, ect. needed for Zardoz notwax. I have used this in every situation imaginable in the Sierras, and an unbelievable amount of various other products from other companies. It is by far the easiest to use (when using Zardoz's recomendations) and outperforms all others in any snow/water condition I've been in the last few years.

On every container of Zardoz notwax I think it is printed that it is the fastest there is. Using is believing. If you have the time and patience I highly recomend reading Zardoz's tuning techniques for teflon.

Pros- It is relatively cheap to use if your base doesn't need to be cleaned before apps.

Cons- you don't want to get your deck dirty then have to use solvent to remove the tar/ oil, whatever is on the bottom as it probably takes off to much Zardoz. This stuff is supposed to seep into the pores of your base. I don't like to drip $15 worth of teflon into the base on the first application then possibly remove a lot of it with solvent (Zardoz website should know more about this). The first app is supposed to be better to saturate overnight if I remember right. Then light apps before riding when needed.

You people that do mail order, I distribute this from my website. The website is blown now, but emailing me may get you some zardoznotwax.
It is also easier on me for now to batch my orders as I don't stock this stuff right now.

For you people sold on this stuff and ride hard often there is the 1/4 lb and 1/2 lb containers for 150 to 600 apps according to their website. If my math is right it gets as cheap as 25 to 50 cents an app when done by the bigger containers.

Zardoznotwax website has retailers on it.

I personaly have no issue with the Duponts. Look at another case. Remember that leftist C.I.A. agent (Valerie .... ? ) that had her identity leaked. The C.I.A. is regarded by some people in the late 70's at minimum to be right dominated. Can you imagine working a covert operation for a country that has probably given a person a relatively good life and then have the highest officials (who got convicted) in the presidency tell our enemys what is going on just because they are in different political parties.
Believe it or not, not being allowed to use Zardoz has cancelled more than one snowboarding experience. Turned at least one into a hell of a drunken day on a free lift ticket that I didn't want to use if I couldn't use Zardoz.
These well meaning people ( think we don't need Zardoz) at best, are an issue.

Icersports (spelling?) out of the North Lake Tahoe (Verdi Nv.?) area distributes products with teflon in them the last time I checked a few years ago. I could not find them on Google or MSN search (email back with the URL if you find it). Zardoz claims some engredients will after mutiple uses clog the base so that full penetration of lube does not occur. Icersports only offered one pure teflon lube the last time I checked. I prefer to use one brand that does not confuse a consumer.
I'm not an expert on bases. Zardoz claims that the size of the teflon particles is smaller than the pores in a base to accept the lube.

That is disgusting. It is a whole different world 'up there' from us, regular people. Point is that that should not influence the society and drag us into their dirty 'games'.

Therefore, I think we should just buy products we like without even thinking twice about the political 'color'.
