Anyone have any real world experience with a quadratic sidecut snowboard?
Ride Snowboards are selling them this year. Is this what GOOD snowboards will be?
Was just talking to my Pro sponsered friend, and he was saying that the Quadratic Sidecut is just another version of Burton`s EDG.
Meaning that, while your turning / cutting the stiffness of the board is affected. And that seeing that Burton copyrighted that system, the other board companies have to come up with something else.
He has ridden both and is sponsered by ride (he rides rides the most) and he says the burton is a more precise and sharper feel when cutting. So.....

Anyway, thought I`d pass along a seasoned vetrens opinion on the matter. Later everyone.
Caledon Ontario.
IT WAS SNOWING TODAY!!! WOO HOO!!!!!

under the impression this shaped sidecut was used by several manufacturers for both skis and snowboards.... each manufacturer using their own name for it.

past)... btw, I saw this on Bomber`s site regarding Donek`s alpine boards. See the comments column. Perhaps the freeride boards have the same shape....

I use a quadratic sidecut on all my boards. Rides description of a quadratic is very inaccurate. I`m not sure if they lost it in the translation from the engineers or it`s just marketing buzz. There is so much more to the board than just the sidecut shape. If the flex pattern doesn`t work with the sidecut, it doesn`t matter what the sidecut shape is. It`s vital to look at the entire picture in order to make a board turn or hold an edge well. You can`t shop based on such buzz words. You`ve got to do your research based on how the board actually performs. Rider reviews are great if you don`t have the ability to test the board. www.boardreviews.com is a good one. There is another for freeride stuff, but I can`t remember the site link.
