I fly into Seattle 9th Feb for a week. I would appreciate advice on route, ski areas, lift tickets and accommodation on this big loop. Provisional plan is to drive to Coeur d`Alene and then spend a day skiing in a number of areas whilst heading NE to Banff - driving say 4-7pm each afternoon. (My son`s there for a spell). Then back maybe via Kamloops and Mt Baker. (I like Mt Baker, not so keen on Whistler). I`m on my own. My skiing is I guess `mature intermediate` i.e. do anything slowly. I`m quite happy in hostels, B&B and less-expensive motels. What would you do?! Hope to hear. Regards to all (from the UK). Mike

We toured this area at the end of a season a in Whistler last year. I`d go Seattle - Spokane, over border to Rossland (Red Mt)1 day, drive that evening to Cranbrook or thereabouts, 1 day in Fernie, over to Alberta to drive up to Banff (hiway 3???). Coming back try Golden (Kicking Horse) or Invermere (Panorama) and/or Kimberley. Nelson (Whitewater) is another possibility if you want. The Okanagan is not very practical if you want to maximise your time in Banff. Baker is a great area in Washington but not really on the way to Banff unfortunately.

damn good ski area.
To add to the list of resorts in this area there is Castle Mountain which is just inside Alberta. Never been there but it looks good up the website.
There will be plenty of powder in all these places
