I`m close to buying my first snowboard and have been looking at the options and I was wondering if I should purchase a wide board or not. My street shoe size is 11 (US) and most of the boots I`ve tried on are either 11 or 11.5 depending on the brand. Most sizing charts I`ve seen have put me right on the edge of going for a wide board, and I was just wondering what everyone else thought about this. I have heard there can be some control issues with a wide board. Any comments?

Absolutely go wide, unless you plan on using really steep angles on your bindings.

board could be anything form 260 mm wide to 285. Feet vary in size on a continuous scale and so should board width. Everybody needs the right width of board for their foot size, stance angles, intended usage, experience etc. This is well covered at rssFAQ.org - see section 1.07.01 Work out what width board you need and then try to find it - don`t pay too much attention to whether this is categorised by manufacturers as wide or not. Good luck! Iain

too wide. I used to ride an A Snowboards` Method wide and then got a Palmer Honeycircle, which was somewhere between "regular" and "wide". It`s just as stable but switches edges quicker, which feels a lot nicer ..... speaking of which, where`s the fastforward button to get me back on the slopes?
