I just broke my wrist snowboarding. I have a trip to Utah planned for January. I`m thinking about going on the trip anyway; except skiing instead of riding. I`m worried that I won`t have enough grip strength to hold the pole (my cast will have been off for a week at this point). Has anyone tried to ski after breaking their wrist?

you can expect this.
Me : "Doc, I`m gonna go snowboarding with my cast on." Doc : "No you`re not." Me : "Why not? It`s in a cast?" Doc : "Becasue if you fall, you`ll break your arm here." pointing at where the cast ends. Me : "Ok, good point. But I am playing paintball on it." Doc, after considering. "Ok, but See me before you go." He put on a `waterproof` cast....
Every doctor will tell you not to do it. But if yo`re going to, ask for a waterproof cast if you can. It helps, TRUST ME.
Other than that, The best I can tell you is GO EASY! You`re gonna get tired out faster, and you`re gonna hurt more if you fall. Trust me, I got a good whack on my wrist from a spill and it took a lot out of me for that game. Just, don`t do anyhting you think you might regret.
Oh, and voice recognition software is fun when youre wrist hurts.

back on the slopes after 3 days. I convinced the doctor that I could teach even with a cast and there was no problem on the ski/snowboarding school side (as a matter of fact I used that to teach safety). The most annoying thing in the 6 weeks I had the cast on was the cold on my broken extremity, but a nice girl at the desk made me a custom fleece glove
Yes, you can snowboard with a broken wrist (I wouldn`t ski because of the ski pole) as long as you pay extra attention. I learned to ride holding my arm against my chest and everything was cool. Just be careful, ok?

spam92, welcome to the forum

I am not going to answer you - sorry, I think you are acting foolish to go either skiing or boarding with a broken wrist.
(besides you could hold on to the skiing poles)

I hope your mom can stop you from going and you will be able to go soon as you are in good conditiion again.

I went skiing when i was 15 with a broken wrist a week after i broke it, i was in a resin cast, i fell over loads of times and my wrist was fine as the cast protected it.

Jaysch77 welcome to the forum You may have been lucky. I heard other stories. Perhaps spam92 should take his/her chances, but I wouldn't if I were him/her

Hi Guys. Just got back from france i decided to ski instead of board and i could hold onto the poles. on the first day i went over a big kicker and fell on it quite badly but the fibre glass cast helped protect it and it didnt hurt
thanks for your reply's i did concider them but i looked forward to it too much not to go. x
