There are some excellent general ski websites around, but none that I`ve found (so far) that give a breakdown of snow/skiing conditions in tabular (or similar) format.
It would be great to see on one page/site, where the `best` snow/skiing is at any one time rather than having to `click` thru all the locations throughout the world.
If anything like this does exist, please shout!
My motivation is to find the best place to ski for the first week in December. I was looking at Vail (but late opening, no snow, warm temps) and Whistler (seems best so far). But if any European locations (I`m UK based) are offering good conditions, I`d be happy to head off there too.
Cheers, (and here`s hoping for a good early season start)

I think the best thing is: {1] ask the locals via this forum, then [2] look at the webcams.
Ski resorts are notorious for being `optimistic` in their reporting of snow levels.

sig). During the season reports are updated daily from all resorts. Repped resorts are also reported independantly by the Ski Club rep, who`s skied that day, so although the depths are those provided by the resorts, you`ll get the rep`s comments on skiing conditions, which can be much more revealing.
Also, as we supply the data to National and International press, if we suspect the figures are being doctored we`ll ask the resort to look into it and amend accordingly.
In practice, this doesn`t often happen, but one must always be aware that the fixed points at which the depths are measured may not always be typical of the pistes at the same altitude. That`s why we place more emphasis on the `state of piste` comments than the depths.

I agree, state of piste is much more important than amount of snow.

although the rep`s comments are only online until the next day.
If you want to see comments historically, try emailing the club directly (I`m just a rep so have no influence on the web site) although I suspect the volume of data required would make this un-feasible, plus it`s not really that useful in retrospect.

I used to visit a `do it yourself` steak place near Breckridge. May be near Frisco (?) Does anyone know the name? Is it still in business?

It was a do it yourself steak and sea food place. It`s been 10 years since I`ve been there. Had to look it up the restaurant in Silverthorn to make sure it still exists.
