Ok people,

Ive heard that the snow quality in america is better than the mountains in canada.

im planning a big trip next year to there, so obviously i want to go where the snow is best.

so if someone could enlighten me, would be much appreciated.

Cheers,

Shieldsy

Well, what you have heard is simply not true. If you are judging snow quality by the moistue content then is safe to say that the further you move inland ( central rockies ) the snow for most of the year is lighter and fluffier. This would include the Banff area, Lake Louise and Sunshine Village, as well as Big Sky, Grand Targhee, Jackson Hole and all of the Utah resorts. I personnaly cannot speak for Colorado but I would assume the conditions are similar to ours here in eastern Idaho. So if your looking for the place to go I would recommend Jackson Hole. Good base by late january, 4000 vertical ft., and some crazy runs. Not to mention easy access to Grand Targhee.
