I was wondering if I really need to get a proper snowboarding coat to prevent me from getting wet when I'm riding? I mean do I need one with a skirt on the inside? THey are costly and I dont have the money to spend for something that is not really necessary. In the past I never had one but I do get wet sometimes.

Do not worry about a coat so much as it it not that important. Just stick with what you got and have used so far. If you are getting wet a little it is not really a problem. You can get a coat that will protect you better that is not a snowboarding coat specifically. Any comfortable coat will do fine.

Just buy a coat that you like and try it out. If it works great and if not then just return it. THats exactly what I did and I have no shame in doing so.

It is absolutely NOT necessary to buy a snowboarding coat with a skirt on the inside. THey are a waste of money if you ask me. Just get any coat that is comfortable and just tuck your undershirt into your pants. This will keep your legs dry which is more important then your upper body.
