Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and new to riding as well. I am looking at buying a board and I am having a hard time deciding... Also I am wondering if it would be stupid to buy more of an intermediate board, even though I am only starting. I am looking at the K2 Luna, and the Ride Vista. On sale they are really not that much more than a 'beginner' board, and I want something that I won't grow out of right away. Is a beginner board classified as 'beginner' simply because it is cheaper? Or are they specifically easier to learn on? And would either of those above mentioned boards be a lot more difficult to learn the basics on?

Thanks for any suggestions!

Hello Little_D, welcome here

It is my understanding that beginner's snowboards tend to be slightly heavier for the obvious reasons. I've also heard the K2 Luna is a great board and should be fit for all ability levels...

Maybe other snowboarders here can give you more input on this.

Good luck with snowboarding

Hey, I saw that you were looking into getting either a Luna or a Vista---I have a Vista, my sister has a Luna. I am in love with my board, it's gone through a lot (it's my second board, and I'd consider myself intermediate at this point), and I would highly recommend it. My sister's board is great too, and if it were me, I'd choose based on price. As a beginner, the board is gonna get beat up so there isn't a point to getting a really expensive one. I've gotten all my gear on eBay and saved a ton while still getting high-quality goods. Hopefully this helps you somewhat, and welcome to snowboarding!

find a friend with a old board. i personally keep a board in case one of my firends wants to ride and doesnt have one. and bernzy is right its gonna beat up but still get a good board. my first was a 155 ride yukon 04/05 and before that i rode all rentals, might as well thrash someone elses gear while your still learning and if they bitch jus tell them it was gonna happen any way but seriously dont be fooled by price i jus got a bataleon(misspelled) evil twin for 165 with tax and its one of my favorite boards. demo shops have the best deals and the stuff is already thrashed jus buy one and have someone do the repairs.
Its not where you ride, its how you ride.

The terrain park ends where you stop riding.
