This is off a yahoo groups email

Mammoth just released it's weekly snow report.....So, July 4th, may still be in the running, but they will probably need another storm or two, to counter-act any major heat wave....

MAMMOTH Weekly Report
Open 'til June 14th or Later
Snow Report for Thursday May 7
After a stormy weekend, the beautiful spring weather has returned to Mammoth. We are also excited to announce that Mammoth will remain open for skiing and snowboarding through June 14th, and possibly later. Sierra Star is scheduled to open on May 22nd, so be ready for some ski/golf getaways.
Construction has begun on a spring park and 22-foot pipe accessible from Face Lift Express. The new features should be set to go mid-month. Main Park and Forest Trail Park are still open and stocked full of jumps and rails along with the 18-foot Superpipe above Main Lodge.
The following lifts are running today out of Main Lodge: Broadway Express, Stump Alley Express, Face Lift Express, Thunder Bound Express, and the Upper and Lower Panorama Gondolas. The Discovery Chair is closed midweek, so there is no beginner terrain available, but we plan to re-open this lift for the weekend. Lifts are open from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. servicing a base of 6.5-11.5 feet of snow.

Mammoth faces the desert and most likely has a very dry crystallin snow. Probably some of the driest spring conditions around. The east slope of the Sierra Nevada range (where Mammoth is located) is known for an abundance of natural hot springs too.
