Speaking as someone who has a Custom and an SM, I agree.

Speaking as someone who has ridden both the Custom and the SM in Australian conditions, I agree too. And since float in powder isn't really a huge factor here, I'd suggest the 60 rather than the 64. (Of course, I'd also suggest a Ride Timeless 61, since that's what I ride, and it works *extremely* well...)

Don't necessarily limit your choice of board to a Burton because it's warrantied here - just about all the major manufacturers have authorised dealers all over .au (Burton, Ride, K2, Rossi, Salomon, Nitro...) so getting warranties done isn't a problem (as long as you have purchase receipts and all that, which you should have anyway...).

The other thing to consider is the possibility of getting a new board before you go over - it's summer here, so off-season discounts are definitely to be had. Some companies (eg Ride, Nitro) bring out their boards in .au before the northern hemisphere, so you may find a great deal on a current model board. It may not be cheaper, and you might not have the same range to choose from, but it is definitely worth at least checking out.
