I am travelling to Colorado (got a cheap flight to Denver) on March the 3rd 2002. I am a good snowboarder (like freeriding and park jumping) and I`m travelling with a good skier.
I have been to Breck several times and really like it but don`t find there is a lot of longish challenging runs. Thinking about Vail but accom seems v. pricey so imagine partying is too.
Would love to hear resort recommendations for Colorado. My pie-in-the-sky requirements (most important first) are...
Requirements are... -Fair amount of challenging runs (i.e. not steep for 10 metres and then flat) -Night life (just under 30 and single so beer and ladies is good) -Lift ticket that allows days elsewhere and good transport to those places -Reasonably priced accomodation -Powder, powder, powder (actually this should be first
TIA for any comments that you may have.

Thanks for that Richard. Would staying at Breck and doing a few days at Vail be the next best thing?

keystone is a great cruising mountain and a basin is different..if you stay in breck,a real town, you can commute to those areas very easily

I have to agree with krissfam. I like keystone a lot, which is why I bought a place there. I snowboard, and find the keystone runs to be really nice. I have been to Vail aswell, and found it to be a lot more effort than Keystone to get onto the slopes. If you do end up staying in breck, give Keystone a gander. Just in case you are looking for somewhere to stay. I have a condo. http://www.condoski.com It`s in the keystone resort, and really very nice.

1. Vail - it doesnt place near or at the top every year in magazines by accident. The back bowls, blue sky basin, everything, its simply the best, and huge.
2. Breckenridge - Never been dissapointed here, just a nice place.
3. Copper Mtn - after my last trip there it may overtake Breck for #2. When the wind is blowing on the divide, its calm here. Layout of runs is good, bowls are nice, parking is so-so.
4. Keystone - The layout (its really 3 mountains back to back) takes alot of work to get to The Outback, then back. Night skiing is a bonus. Wasnt that long ago they banned snowboarding, guess they think we have a short memory. I`d rather give my money to someone else. The bone they threw us back then was A-Basin: not great for boarding, unless you like moguls (Palivacinni) or getting caught in the nearly uphill areas east of Exhibition lift. That leaves about a third of the resort, less than 200 acres, good for boarding. Either Loveland or Eldora is bigger and better.
Just my opinion, Chris
