Are you a great snowboarder? You can share your love of snowboarding with a person who has a disability. Courage Alpine Skiers is looking for volunteers in Minnesota & western Wisconsin. http://www.courageskiers.com 763-520-0495.

I coached Special Olympics for 3 challenging seasons with athletes of incredable abilities. I was thanked a few times for my unpaid efforts. I really wondered who got more out of it, the staff or the athletes. It was an awesome experience in many instances.

I'm sure it was, Perry. I can totally imagine so. Are there a lot of places this adaptive snowboarding can be exercised in the U.S.?

Yes, there are a ton of organizations that offer adaptive snowboarding programs! For a listing by state, check out DSUSA: http://www.dsusa.org/chapter.html

This is not a complete list, so you may want to google if you don't find one in your area.

If you are in Colorado, I'll put in a plug for one of the best programs in the country: Adaptive Sports Center of Crested Butte (www.adaptivesports.org)
