A riding switch means to ride backwards, or riding opposite to the way you would normally ride, i.e. riding with a different foot forward. The best way to practice is on a mellow slope, in the same way you did when you first started out.
T-bar and chair lift are two devices that pull you up the slope so that you can snowboard back down. Watch out though, riding them with snowboards requires a different approach than with skis. Observe other people around you to get the idea of how to do it.
Carving means turning quickly, while leaving a nice carved cut in the snow. In other words it means turning without skidding. Alpine boards are hard and designed to achieve great carving results, but they are not good for jumping.
