I started snowboarding last winter and i(a guy,) ignorantly bought a women's board in a second hand store... i am 5'9 and i weigh 145 pounds. would their be a large problem if the board is 155? and also i found that my boots are 1.5cm over the edge on both sides, would that create a large toe/heel drag?

I have a womans deck also. I knew that when I bought it. I have very small feet and am small for a person of European decent. I am totally satisfied with it after getting over the graphics (lavender). This is my fastest snowboard, and goes edge to edge unbelievably quick.
Approximately 1/2 inch over hang may be ideal. You may want to test the system on extreme carving (may want to start with slower turns on softer snow in case there are issues) in different snow densities, if you find a better method please respond back on this forum.
I bevel my boots to match the binding/boot orientation to the edge. This may be a warranty issue on the boots. It is very tricky to gauge how much to shave off. Repairing areas shaved to much with shoe goop is not a desirable situation.

what size shoes to you wear, if you are larger than 43cm in European sizes (around a 11 US I think) then you should go for the wider one.
