My son has a size 13 foot, if I buy him a board should it be a wide board, he has been riding only rented boards up til now. Thanks

What kind of riding does he do/want to do? How are his bindings going to be mounted (degree angle)?

Mainly carving on northern Michigan hills, (even though I do have plans on going out west later this year)He's a new rider who caught on real quick. He's 5'8 now but has a size 13 shoe so I predict he will spring up over 6 ft within a year or so so I want to plan accordingly. He has been riding with angles pre-set by the rental depts, I assume theyre no more than 15 degrees. My main concern is that he wont be able to handle the board well if its too wide,,but I also dont want him scraping his toes on corners. Thanks

If he is into serious carving, some people angle the bindings forward more than others. This will lower toe and heel drag.

I don't want to make this to complicated. Some boards will carve differently according to where the bindings are, and angle orientation. Hopefully you can find a person/company who will give you appropriate answers. Where you find big mtns.( Heavenly, Jackson Hole, Switzerland,ect...) the snowboard companies tend to be rocket orientated. Hopefully one of these companies or someone who understands them can give better answers on current products.
